Why doesn't your 1988 RX7 rotary engine have any compression and has water on the plugs?
Your coolant seals have failed and, assuming your engine did not severely overheat, it needs a rebuild as soon as possible, because it is already rusting inside. If it overheated or has been sitting for long, there's a good chance that the "block" is scrap (i.e. the combustion and intermediate housings, rotors, and possibly eccentric shaft).
ouch, to get water on plugs the engine either has a cracked head or a cracked block
check timing. timing advance. or slack in timing chain/belt
It sounds like you have a bad fuel sending unit. It is located in the fuel tank and the tank must be removed to replace it.
It could have jumped time, (timing belt/chain has broken or jumped a notch).. the RX-7 does not have a timing chain or belt , it doesn't have a cam, it has ports in the chambers like a two stroke engine, so usually when they wont start and you have spark to it and fuel , it's flooded , the carbur...
Usually when you're continuing to operate a severely overheating car, your rings are destroying themselves on the cylinder walls. This results in less compression, oil consumption and loss of power. Assuming this is the problem, having the engine rebuilt is the only solution for this. You can tak...
If the engine is not ruined already the belts will fail because the water pump will not turn. The engine may not turn over at all because the water pump will not turnWhen it starts, if it does, it will overheat very quickly and the cooling system will fail because it is full of ice and will not co...
The diesel engine doesn't require spark plug to generate power, instead, the high compression ratio is enough to ignite the fuel.To self-ignite the engine; the higher compression ratio is required. Moreover, the diesel is highly volatile and only air compression is enough to ignite the fuel.
probably low on brake fluid
Excess oil from bad/stuck oil rings in that cylinder could do that.
Cars don't have torque, engines do. If the engine has no torque, the car won't go. The statement " this engine has no torque" is usually just hyperbole, and means "it doesn't have as much as I would like". Torque translates into acceleration and speed. Low torque means low performance.
We need to know the year/make/model. The most likely cause is air/fuel mixture . If you can get it scanned, most newer vehicles will give the exact cause( low fuel pressure fault code, sensor fault code). If you can't, I would start by checking check fuel pressure, or air leaks if it is a MAF sys...
Spark plugs are electrical components that should not have contact with any sort of fluid. The engine warning light is on as a warning for a possible electrical system issue.
I am having air and dirt coming through the water pipes in your house you have a well water system any Ideas?
This is most likely a result of a crack in the well pipe, or the well head itself. You may need to call a contractor to get it fixed or replaced.
Why is your 93 rx7 leaking coolant from the overflow tank on cooldown replaced caps and heaters work fine?
The cap may not be properly sealed or the breather hole in the reservoir may be faulty. It is also necessary to check the over flow tank for flaws. If everything is fine, it may be time to change the engine.
if sparkplug came out, then you need to find the problem that causes this. usually plug will blow out if it has been loose and trashed the thread where it bolts in. easiest way to fix this is to buy a spark plug with a speeedy sleeve. as you screw this plug into the plug hole a sleeve in the plug...
I just bought a new car that has an mp3 player and an ipod port the radio doesn't play any songs from the ipod but it does play some mp3 songs my son had on his any idea why?
Make sure that the songs that were downloaded onto your iPod are in MP3 format. Songs downloaded from iTunes are not in MP3 format. Even though you can hear the songs on your iPod when you connect headphones to it, the iPod port in your car might not recogonize the songs. The songs on your son's ...
I guess you could keep it fixed up for nostalga. But it's never going to be able return your investment in resale value. When the amount you are paying to keep it running, per month, becomes more than the monthly payment on a good used car, it's time to dump it.
Cooling fan could be faulty or radiator could be clogged or have slight leaks in it .
Look for a code reader to read the diagnostic codes. You can usually borrow, rent or buy one from most auto parts retailers.
So in petrol engine, the air fuel mixture is sent into the engine cylinder and the mixture is ignited by the spark generated by the spark plug.Diesel engines don't require any spark plug because the required heat to ignite the fuel is generated due to compression of air.
Was it missing and sputtering before you changed them? If no, then you could have got the firing order mixed on the distributor. Maybe if you didn't replace the wires also one became more damaged while removing it. If yes, maybe its your fuel, or injectors, and you need to add a bottle of cleaner...
Highest and lowest cylinders should not exceed a 10% difference
You probably blew the motor up. They won't last long without a functioning governor.
Your 1988 corvette has 3 dead cylinders why. the engine runs. there is a great amount of pressure inside the engine when running remove oil filler cap and the pressure come out very strongly.?
You may have broken rings in the 3 dead cylinders allowing compressed air-gas mixture to enter the crankcase.
If it's knocking and smoking(blue) smoke, then the engine is toast... A chocolate milkshake for oil doesn't always kill engines// dave
What is the typical compression ratio and combustion chamber pressure in a compression ignition engine?
Typical compression ratios between 18:1 and 23:1 are common, although in an effort to minimize oxides of N2 compressions as low as 16:1 are being employed generally resulting in a loss of 1-2 mpg resulting from the lower thermodynamic efficiency of the diesel cycle. Higher compression ratio yield...
There is no possible way to answer that question based on just PSI.Try googling compression ratio calculator. Once opening the first result you will need to enter your engine specifications to find out the answer. You will need to know the bore, stroke, gasket thickness, size of the combustion ch...
Other than an obvious external leak that you can easily see, you may have a blown head gasket.
It means, that you have to refill oil and cooling water.
May have snapped/jumped the timing chain.
Where is the plug for the fuel pump located on your engine wiring harness and what does it look like?
If you need to remove the pump I would suggest unplugging it directly at the pump, there should be an access panel somewhere over the top of the tank. If youre not removing the pump I would siggest finding a Chilton or Haynes manual for your car, even for removing the pump it would likely be useful.
It is possibley your alternator or battery
The fuel regulator on your car has been changed and the oil and plugs but still having gas in the oil and heavy blue smoke and gas in the exhaust could this be bad fuel injectors?
Blue smoke sounds like oil burning you probably have internal engine problems and should see a mechanic, you might try replacing your PCV valve, those are cheap and cause oil consumption problems, might cause some fuel problems. usually fuel in the engine oil indicates a fuel leak either injector...
Could be a leaking head gasket
Compression ratio is the difference in the volume of a engine cylinder between when the cylinder is at it's largest volume, compared against when the cylinder is at it's smallest volume. Gasoline engines use 8:1 to 12:1 compression ratio. Diesel fuel engines use 14:1 to 25:1.
When engine is cool, Look in radiator and see if the antifreeze is full. Mechanics use more information of problem to diagnose, like, Where is leak at under the car? Air conditioners can cause water drip from car but that is normal. No matter what is causing the drip you will also need to clean/f...
It is quite a bad occurrence when the two mix and usually means that the gasket has failed to function as required, creating an internal leakage which could easily damage the engine. Some of the reasons why engine oil mixes with the coolant are: A broken/damaged head gasket.
Evidently the bulb is blown out. It needs to be replaced.
120 P.S.I. is acceptable low, 130 is good 135 is factory startup/breakin period required.
U need a new speedometer cable. It runs from the transmission to the speedometer. They tend to break in half or just seize up after they get so old. They are easy to replace, it takes to people to do it but it is really easy to do. I hope I helped you.
Help on fixing your truckMy check engine light is on and your speedometer doesn't workI have aspeedometer sensorI can't fine were it should beI can fine the one in the back but not frontHELP?
Check for the sensor at the bell housing, the top of the transmission, and the tail shaft. Depending on the truck brand the sensor should be at one of these locations.
It does. In fact, he is my favourite (old English spelling) train. His name is Montigue, The Great Western Engine who prefers to be called Duck.
the weather stripping is bad
I may not be understanding your question. Of course the oil pressure goes to 0 when you shut the engine off, as the oil pump is no longer runnning. Start the engine and the pump brings the pressure back up. I don't know what you mean by, "bleed down".
Your seat leon 1.8turbo has stoped working n the engin is ticking bad even tho i have topped the oil up any ideas what could be wrong thanks?
I would try buying new spark plugs or it could be a leak under the hood that could be hitting against metal.also get your transmission checked. other things you should check the following:1. brakes2. bolts and tires3. bearings, if any.4. pistons5. axles6. alignment7. shocksI hope this info helps ...
There are a few of them on engines. They are cups about 2" around and a 1/2" tall that pressed (pounded) into the engine. You will find these on the engine located in the heads and block. In the heads they normally are one front and back. In the block you will find them in the front, back, and do...
If you only have water in your cooling system you will eventually get rust from the engine block. (bottom half of the motor) Put some antifreeze in it and change it every couple of years as it eventually becomes acidic and can damage alloy parts. You can do a litmus paper test on the coolant ever...
The fuel gages, the battery gage, the oil pressure gage, and the coolant gage are on the upper instrument cluster?
It could be a number of things. #1. water pump going bad....#2 radiator fins plugged up...#3 bad head gasket... 3 ways to check for bad head gasket...#1 Take radiator cap off when car is cold and start it. Look in radiator for bubbles,(may take a few minutes to notice)...#2 Water in oil or oil in...
sounds like you have a blown head gasket possibly a cracked head!
Why is your 1992 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme still overheating when you have changed the water pump thermostat and radiator cap?
Although I deal exclusively with automotive air conditioning, my work takes me into the realm of engine cooling because of its (profound) effect on the A/C system. Have you checked the electric cooling fan to see if it is operational? Aside from coming on when the A/C in operating, the fan should...
Why would the radiator cooling fan not turn on when the engine gets hot in a 1988 Nissan Sentra 1.6 the sensor and main relay have been replaced and the fan is good?
Check thermostat, if stat not working it wont be circulating the water past the sensor to bring fan on. Is one of the coolant hoses cold even when it overheats? Hope this helps
Each state has its own set of standards and criteria by which it ranks public schools. In addition, these ratings can also vary from city to city. In order to make an informed decision, contact the office of the school superintendent in the city you are interested in. Ask if they have any publish...
To decrease the compression ratio "remove material" from inside of the Cylinder head or piston top. This increases both the volumes by equal amount and hence the ratio gets decreased. Changing the piston head design.Changing the stroke length of the cylinder.Changing cylinder diameter.Chang...
no if the valves do not seat properly against the head the piston will force the fuel mixture past either into the exhaust or the intake if the vehicle is running rich i would suspect the intake valves
there is a ground somewhere in your wiring check the wiring for nick and or frays also look for scorched metal
Ive just brought 2000 model yz125 which had the top end rebuilt the engine has now done 5 hours approx riding time and has just started to run ruffly the plug has been replaced and oil changed and new?
The first thing you need to check are your fuel filters. A bad or clogged filter can haunt an engine and make you chase a dozen different non-existent problems.
It depends, you should always get air from the vents when the car is in motion if the re circulation button "is not" pressed. If you mean the fan isn't working you need to check for power at the blower motor. If there is no power it could be:1.The fuse for the blower motor is blown.2. The blower r...
Although my 1988 Integra's plugs wires and cap are in good condition my car will loose all power electrical and engine is there an electrical problem?
im not gonna swear to this but maybe a short in computer?
There is just enough voltage in the battery to light up the dash but not enough to turn the engine over. The little lamps consume way less energy as opposed to cranking the engine.
The most likely culprit is the heater core.. its usually located under the dash on the passenger side.. if it starts leaking you will have water on the passenger side floorboard.. also the radiator fluid will be low.. Another possibility is the drain from the ac is clogged... alowing condenced wa...
Just bought the alpine cda-105 CD receiver and kcu-440i usb iPod cable and when you plug your iPod in the head unit wont recognize it it doesn't do anything like display error messages it just doesn't?
if youre plugging right into the usb jack it wont work. the radio doesnt have the required software like a comp does to read and play things off of your ipod. you have to use your aux in. if you get the right cable you can use the usb to charge it while it plays through your aux in
My car - polo 04 has been flooding a lot recentally. Why is this and does a flooded engine pose any other problems with a car engine?
I am assuming that the vehicle is a petrol injection vehicle and that the vehicle is serviced regularly (new spark plugs etc)? If so then flooding is cause by an excess of fuel in the cylinder that hasn't been burnt prior to turning the engine off. This fuel could be entering the cylinder due to f...
In a 1994 probe and its raining and you have a cold air intake and you hit a puddle of water and your car died do you think there is water in your engine?
How big was the puddle. If u dont have a bypass valve then yes u have water in your engine
Does a cosigner have any liability if the ower of vihicle has an accident and the cosigner is the primary on the loan?
Unfortunately yes. I am a co-signer on my sons car. My name is on the car title as well (in which I am going to try my best to get off of title). My son has his own car insurance that covers quite a bit, however if he was to get in an accident and it was found to be his fault, his insurance would...
The temp sending unit or gauge is bad, probably the sending unit.
I'm dealing with the same problem on my station wagon Camry 1989. Pep boys say have to order thru Dealer
A dirty fuel filter or a faulty fuel pump to name a few possibilities. Give us more info like the year, make, model and engine.
Your oil light on your M reg Golf has come one and is beeping you topped up the oil but it's still doing it any ideas?
Remove oil sending unit and replace with a manual gauge to check the oil pressure Low oil pressure could indicate a bad oil pump or excessive engine wear
change your oil as many times as it takes to stop your oil from turning milky. if after four oil changes it doesn't fix the problem then you may have an antifreeze leak going into your oil, if that's the case hope it's a head gasket seal, otherwise it could be a crack in the cilinder
Why can't cars run on water instead of gasoline? Using water to power cars is, unfortunately, only a pipe dream. Here's the problem, Cheng says: “A water molecule is very stable.” The energy needed to separate the atoms is greater than what you get back — this process actually soaks up energy inst...
Why won't your 2002 zx2 come out of park and could it being stuck in park have anything to do with it not having any power even though it has new battery and fuses checked no lights no nothing?
You will need to repair the power issue before it will come out of park. It sounds like you may have popped a fusible link.
Nope. Should have made the payments.
you could have a hole in one of your pipes or hoses that the water went throw.
Popped out a frost plug or broken outlet on radiator where top and bottom hose connects.
No, The compression test is done as the starter cranks the engine
Because the case is cracked and/or a cell is ruptured. That's probably not just water leaking on the floor. I suggest you buy some cat litter or floor dry and clean that up, quick.
they could not concentrate because they were having so much sex
Your 1999 SLS keeps running hot you have replaced the thermostat the water pump backflushed the engine and flushed the radiator what now?
I had similar problem with a mercury tracer I owned I had two problems with mine, One the thermostat was faulty(was old and rusted out) and the temperature sending unit wasn't working right ( Fan did not come on at needed temperature 205 degrees) so I had to replace them both.Hope this helps
These symptoms indicate that there is either:
Could be a bad ignition coil either traditional type or C.O.P. (Coil on Plug) type
These are not the original parts, my guess would be that a previous owner wanted better power, and better shifting so upgraded those components.
there are two ways caliper pistons are made, one you can just use a c-clamp to push the piston back into the caliper; the other piston type must be screwed into the caliper with a special tool (inexpensive and readily available at your local auto parts store), but i must warn you, this "screw typ...
It depends on the amount of bleach poured into the mixture. If it is too much it can cause the paint to fade and rubber trims on the vehicle to get damaged.
My keyless entry does not work on my Mercury Grand Marquis 2000. Any ideas as to why it doesn't work?
Probably a dead battery in your device if its never been changed. There's usually a notch where you can pry it open to change it. Just make sure you compare and buy the right one.
If it is a water cooled vehicle the is yesIt its broadest sense the engine & radiator are the storage containers.More specifically the expansion bottle (also known as a header tank) which is connected to the vehicles radiator could be classed as a water container.
