If a 97 cadillac deville wit new radiator leaks water a lot and has to be filled after short distances or it overheats What is wrong with it does the water pump need replacing or just hoses and how?
Potenially a bad temperature sensor or bad contact on the wire connector. Test for set voltage resistance according to temperature.
When the car is at around 225degrees should the the upper radiator hose be hard to squeeze its a new radiator a new water pump a new thermostat and all the hoses has been changed?
yes the air/fluid gets hot and expands. The pressure within the cooling system should be what ever the radiator cap is set for, usually 15 to 16 psi. If it is more than that, replace the radiator cap.
Would it hurt to just take your thermostat out because my car is getting how even though i have new water pump radiator hoses?
the car will run with no thermostat installed but performance will be affected. the thermostat not only opens when the engine gets to preset temp but also closes until the engine reaches normal operating range. when the engine is cold either the choke or the fuel injection system richens the fuel...
Your 2000 elantra has done 160k and just this week the water in the radiator has started boiling and the temperature is almost hitting red can it be the thermostate the radiator or the head gasket?
I would start at the thermostat. Problems with the radiator and head gaskets are usually presented as visual leaks. But clogged passages in the radiator would also cause overheating issues, so have the cooling system flushed.
About four week ago you replaced an old battery that was leaking acid Now your new battery is leaking acid is it just a bad battery or could something else be causing the new battery to leak?
Leaking from where on the battery, the caps? If so the charging system may be over charging the battery and causing the acid to boil out. Could be a voltage regulator problem.
1991 Nissan Sentra has water leaking in the car after you turn on your AC How do you know whats wrong with it Can it be a hose or is it something worse And where do you take your car to get it checked?
The A/C Condensor drain line is stopped up. Clean out this line and the water will drain under the car instead of inside the car. It is located somewhere near the firewall, passenger side. Crawl under the car and find the hose. Use a blunt object such as a pencil to clean it out.
It is rare for a water pump to stop pumping, even if they are leaking, they are still pumping as long as the belt is there and tight. I would change the thermostst first. There are a few water pumps out there that have a plastic impeller and I have seen them break apart but that is rare.
You just got the water pump replaced on your car and now you hear a gurgling sound after you shut the car off it's been about 3 weeks what could it be?
Air in the cooling system - has to be bled to remove air
2000 Mercury Cougar I just replaced the transmission Pump cover and now you need to rev up the motor to 2500RPM before it will move in Forward or reverse Any ideas what I did wrong?
FIRST HAVE YOU CHECKED THE FLUID LEVEL AFTER THE CAR HAS DRIVEN A LITTLE AND WARMED UP?AND SECOND DID YOU DO ANYTHING TO THE PUMP OR SCREEN?
Why would a brand new battery need to be charged or jumped every day The car's power keeps losing its charge every day since about one week or so after replacing the battery with a brand new one.?
check to see if the alternator is working properly or maybe an alternator wire came loose with the new battery installation.
Coolant leak located around the bypass section of your water pump It posssibly may be the intake manifold gasket or a head gasket It is hard to determine with the alternator and air conditioning comp?
Could Be Water Pump Bypass Hose. Not Knowing The Vehicle Or Engine You Have. Suggest You Have A Mechanic, Or Radiator Shop Pressure Test Your Vehicle. That Will Give You More Information.
When a test indicates a leaking thermostat housing gasket and it has to be replaced would you need to drain the cooling system before you can remove the thermostat housing?
No just make sure that the engine is cool. take the radiator cap off MAKE SURE ENGINE IS COOL... then you can take the thermostat housing off and replace the gasket you might have to replace the thermostat as the gasket might be an O ring around the Thermostat and not bought separatly. after your...
