How Does Transport contribute to Climate Change?

Climatology and Climate Changes

Most transport is powered by fossil fuel oil, in some form. Any burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) in industry, transport and the generation of electricity releases carbon dioxide (CO2). This is a greenhouse gas which is contributing to global warming, which is causing climate change.

Because the carbon dioxide in fossil fuels was buried underground hundreds of millions of years ago, releasing it now adds an extra burden on the earth's carbon cycle, meaning that carbon dioxide levels are building up in the atmosphere.

So any use of travel using fossil fuels (gasoline, petroleum, diesel, natural gas etc) contributes to global warming and climate change.
